Access to the beach at Horsey Gap is restricted from November to January as this is an important breeding area for Grey Seals with pups being born from December through to January. I took these shots from the high natural sandy dune embankment whilst trying to keep still in the constant high winds.
Horsey Gap - 18.11.09
Is this Horsey on the Norfolk Coast? I was born on the Norfolk/Suffolk border at Raveningham and spent quite a lot of time at Beccles. Great shots of the seals and also the Turnstones.
ReplyDeleteHi Frank! Good luck with your new blog! Love the spotted fellow there on the beach! Looks a lot like my neighbors dog!!

How lovely to see the Seals so closely and the photos on the previous post are lovely too!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. Two sites now...I remember getting you started. Just a little encouragement has turned out with a great return. Thanks for all your pictures.
ReplyDeleteHi Richard. The words "Stanley look what you've got me into now" come to mind! I'm very glad that my 'mentor' is pleased with my progress.
ReplyDeleteThe Watcher Trevor, you are correct, Horsey is between Sea Palling & Winterton (north of Gt Yarmouth).
Jan. Late Dec, early Jan will see many more hauled out when all the pups appear.
Hi Eve. It looked fairly docile and was asleep most of the time.
ReplyDeleteNice one thanks for sharing the last time I saw seals was on a boat trip at New quay off the coast of south wales. the ones we saw where basking in the sun.
ReplyDelete...ohhh...you're so lucky you have seals to photograph. They are so cute.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly. Have to travel some distance to see these but it is always worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteThese seals are so cool! Seeing their pups on the beach is high on my photographic wishlist, and I hope that I get a chance to travel there during the right season at some point!
ReplyDeleteHi Pat. I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience when you can.
