As I don't own a macro lens this was shot using the EF70-300 set at 170m.   FAB.

  2. This is breathtaking! An absolutely GORGEOUS shot!

Most of my butterflies are taken with a 70-300mm - I usually can't get close enough with my macro - they always fly away!!

  3. Hi Keith. I appreciate your expert opinion.

Hi Kerri. Thanks. Not the most colourful specie but at least it sat still long enough.

  8. MAGNIFICIENT IMAGINE...!
I do love even the "Nature-coloured" butterflies; less spectacular in their beige-brown-black shades and patterns but soooo delicate.....and you captured it beautifully in its own coloured habitat....GORGEOUS!!!

Have a beautiful evening and thank you for having joined my "Picnic"!
    ciao ciao elvira

  9. Jenny. Thank you.

Joanna. You can switch to watching butterflies in the summer when the birds are less active.

Elvira. You are so right..they don't have to be "all colourful" to be appreciated in the natural habitat. ciao ciao FAB.

  10. What a beautiful shot of the Speckled Wood Frank, one of the best Ive seen. The unusual structure and seeds heads of the plant (Agapanthus?) makes for an interesting backdrop. Really lovely. Linda
