Brown Hairstreak.

During a brief afternoon visit to Bookham Common I was fortunate to add another species to this years list ... a Brown Hairstreak ( Thecla betulae).
Although this individual didn't open its wings I'm guessing that it was a female feeding inbetween egg-laying.   Click here for more images of this speciesFAB.

Hi Mary. An easy one to miss when it sits so still .. just glad I was looking in the right direction.

Cheers Keith. Would have been nice to find a White-letter as well ... perhaps another day.

  10. Hi Tammy. I'm not fussy what gets in front of the lens .. the challenge is getting a reasonable image to keep.
